Time evolution of relativistic d + Au and Au + Au collisions

چکیده
The evolution of charged-particle production in collisions of heavy ions at relativistic energies is investigated as function of centrality in a nonequilibrium-statistical framework. Precise agreement with recent d + Au and Au + Au data at √ sNN = 200 GeV is found in a Relativistic Diffusion Model with three sources for particle production. Only the midrapidity source comes very close to local equilibrium, whereas the analyses of the overall pseudorapidity distributions show that the systems remain far from statistical equilibrium.

Rapidity equilibration in d + Au and Au + Au systems Georg
In a Relativistic Diffusion Model (RDM), the evolution of netproton rapidity spectra with √ sNN in heavy systems is proposed as an indicator for local equilibration and longitudinal expansion. The broad midrapidity valley recently discovered at RHIC in central Au + Au collisions at √ sNN= 200 GeV suggests rapid local equilibration which is most likely due to deconfinement, and fast longitudinal...

متن کاملLow-mass dielectrons from the PHENIX experiment at RHIC
The production of the low-mass dielectrons is considered to be a powerful tool to study the properties of the hot and dense matter created in the ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We present the preliminary results on the first measurements of the low-mass dielectron continuum in Au+ Au collisions and the φ meson production measured in Au+Au and d+Au collisions at √ s NN = 200 GeV perfor...
متن کاملUSING d+Au COLLISIONS TO FIND EVIDENCE FOR QUARK-GLUON PLASMA IN Au+Au COLLISIONS AT A CENTER OF MASS ENERGY OF 200 GeV PER NUCLEON
Evidence for a novel state of matter known as the quark-gluon plasma has been found in relativistic heavy ion collisions. During Au+Au collisions, the suppression of particle jets is observed, and was predicted to occur in quarkgluon plasma. In d+Au collisions, this phenomenon is not observed, indicating a different nuclear environment. An analysis of observables such as the Balance Function an...
